GyozaQuest is a non profitable site,

Thoughts before going to Cambodia.

This trip wasn't all that well thought out, unlike the trips you hear about where they've read the guidebooks, and planned most of the things they want to see, and how they might get there. Sure there's still a lot of winging it which would go on, but before the trip, thinking through all the things I would want to do. And trying to plan the trip while I'm in Malaysia.... Um, maybe that's more or less planning than I thought I would need.

So last minute... even though I knew I would have to go, enough to buy the legos... sigh.

But I took the advice, and bought tickets on Air Asia who's motto is "now everyone can fly" and althought they do have some really cheap fares, of course even with me and my indecision. It still cost me darn near the full fare. or at least 830 Ringitt ($240).. round trip.. Much more than the 21 day advance purchase, limited seat fares, which I think would have run me less than $100. Oh well so much for that, trying to book their tickets through their website, seemed to be quite a challenge, and in the end I just gave cash to a co-worker out here to put it on his credit card.

So it's friday morning, I'm feeling sick, I've been shivering all might long, I've got aches, in my body. But then I think... Maybe I'm not sick, just kind of hung over from all that beer. I've been out drinking the night before. Probably a little bit too much. Some pretty mediocre food, by Malaysian standards I think we went to the equivalant of a brass and fern (TGIF's, Chilis, Applebys). A place that serves beer, and has a reasonable but not exceptional rendition of the local fare. So I can't get up, and call down to the office, becuase I've got to pack anyways.

I'm feeling really bad about this one, I'm supposted to be working, really I am.

So I'm leaving not for KLIA, the international terminal that most of the major carriers fly from. I'm leaving from the Air Asia terminal, which is almost 20km from the main terminal. Of course, Shashi, the guy giving me a ride is driving around too much to find the terminal, which we find is off to the side of

However, getting to this terminal. even though it looked moderatel crowded. At this point I don't think it's even the same airport, it might not even have the same runways all the time (although understandably, I could see that it must be in the same flight patterns)

But I guess what surprises me the most is that it's short, quick and too the point. Even immigration where they stamped my passport, seemed calm and efficent.

However getting into Cambodia, and knowing that the $20 for the visa was okay, and the $7 for the taxi fare was okay. The $4 for the bribe, was well??? I dunno, even my friend Danny thought it was wrong. And sets a bad impression.
